Thuir Poster - Porte de Perpignan

Just a few steps from the Byrrh Cellars, the Porte de Perpignan opens onto the Cellera, the historic heart of Thuir: an archway built from pale stone and rounded pebbles, with honey-colored lanes beyond, where bougainvillea spills over the facades. I love this gateway because it seems to hold the whole catalan village in a single view, with the great wine house on one side and the lively little squares on the other.

In this Thuir poster, I brought together everything you might discover as you pass beneath the arch on a summer morning: the cream-and-red facade of the Byrrh Cellars with its bistro terrace and “Wines & Spirits” awning, jasmine climbing along the stonework, the lantern bearing the town’s coat of arms, and the flower-filled balcony of the municipal office with its bronze statue turned toward the sky. The “Le Cellier - El Celler” sign, striped in blood-red and gold, is a reminder that Thuir lives in two languages.

The colors are bold, echoing the light of the Aspres: the deep blue sky, ochre facades, and Byrrh red set against the oleanders. In landscape format, it fits naturally above a sideboard, sofa or kitchen table, wherever you like to linger. Your eye keeps returning to it, just as you return to a shady village square, drawn by a green shutter, a seagull perched on the old wall or a round bollard gleaming on the paving stones.

It makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who grew up in Thuir, for friends returning from a visit to the cellars who want a keepsake more lasting than a bottle, for a housewarming in the Pyrenees-Orientales, or for someone moving away from Roussillon. If you were looking for a Byrrh Cellars poster that does not feel like a vintage advertisement, this is the place as it is experienced today: colorful, lived-in and full of life.

The 170 gsm semi-matte coated paper preserves the brightness of the red and the depth of the blue while reducing glare. The poster is available from A4, 8.3 × 11.7 in, to B0, 39.4 × 55.7 in.
