Catalan Boats Postcard. The Catalan boat is the traditional vessel of Roussillon: colorful hull, white lateen sail, flag with four red stripes. You can still see them on the beaches of the Côte Vermeille, pulled onto the sand between two trips out to sea. An everyday object that has become a symbol, representing a territory that holds dear its culture as much as its moorings.

I drew two boats at sunset, when the light turns orange and the Mediterranean becomes almost still. This is the hour when they look like paintings.

The ideal card for someone who loves Northern Catalonia without needing to name a specific village. It speaks to those who grew up here, who return every summer, or who simply feel an attachment to this Mediterranean and Catalan culture. It can be sent from Collioure, Argelès or Saint-Cyprien on holiday or from home, to remind someone who needs it of summer.

Framed in 10x15, it easily fits into a wall gallery alongside other cards from the region. The warm ochres and the blue of the Mediterranean complement a bright, natural or Mediterranean interior.
